Cracked Wax

Cracked Wax is a specialized low-molecular-weight hydrocarbon processing aid produced via controlled thermal degradation of polyethylene, engineered specifically to serve as an internal lubricant, flow enhancer, and anti-ozonant migrating barrier in rubber compounding. In high-viscosity elastomer formulations—including natural rubber (NR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene (BR), and EPDM—it effectively reduces Mooney viscosity without disrupting sulfur or peroxide vulcanization kinetics. This viscosity reduction lowers mixing torque, reduces internal friction in Banbury and internal mixers, and suppresses excessive heat build-up during intensive shear mastication, preserving the molecular weight and mechanical properties of the vulcanized matrix.

Cracked Wax improves extrusion line speed, calender release, and injection mold-filling in tire components, molded technical goods, conveyor belts, and extruded rubber profiles. Its balanced molecular weight distribution facilitates controlled, steady bloom to the surface of cured vulcanizates, establishing a continuous physical micro-barrier that shields elastomer double bonds from atmospheric ozone attack, weathering-induced micro-fissures, and surface crazing. The wax also enhances the wetting and incorporation of carbon black, precipitated silica, and inorganic mineral fillers, reducing filler agglomeration, preventing screw scorch, and delivering smooth, defect-free extrudate surfaces with minimal die swell.
