Cracked Wax

Cracked Wax is a specialized, low-molecular-weight polyethylene wax (PE wax) produced via controlled thermal degradation, engineered specifically as an essential viscosity modifier, open-time regulator, and set-speed accelerator in hot-melt adhesive (HMA) formulations. In EVA, metallocene polyolefin (mPO), and APAO adhesive systems, it reduces the high melt viscosity of base elastomers and tackifying resins without causing phase separation. This controlled viscosity drop ensures instantaneous substrate wetting, rapid capillary fiber penetration into paperboards and corrugated flutes, and uniform adhesive transfer, allowing high-speed automated packaging, carton sealing, and case erecting lines to operate with clean, needle-sharp cut-offs and zero adhesive stringing.

Cracked Wax provides precise crystallization control during adhesive cooling, directly defining the open and set times required for modern high-throughput conversion lines. As the applied molten bead cools, the wax crystallizes rapidly to lock in high green strength and rigid bond cohesion, preventing bond popping and spring-back under flap tension on automated case-sealing equipment. Formulated with high thermal stability and minimal volatile content, it resists oxidation, skinning, char formation, and nozzle-clogging carbonization within hot-melt tanks and delivery hoses during continuous high-temperature shifts, giving adhesive compounders a dependable component to balance open-time flexibility with rapid set speeds.
